Copy.com Goes Shutting Down

The cloud storage service Copy.com is going to shutting down on 1 May 2016.

Copy.com is a service of the storage and security vendor Barracuda Networks. Barracuda announced that two of its services Copy.com and CudaDrive will be closed by next May.

Copy.com offered almost unlimited storage and it was a popular site for saving and sharing data.

The statement of Barracuda:

We know this comes as disappointing news to our users, but rest assured that we will do everything we can to take care of each of you in the manner for which Barracuda is known. We have partnered with Mover.io to make migrating your data to another service as easy as possible and have created a step by step guide that walks you through the process of moving your data to a local hard drive or another cloud storage solution.
If you are on a paid subscription for either Copy or CudaDrive, please keep an eye out in the coming days for an email with more detailed information on your options. For additional information, please visit our FAQ page.

The news shocked its users as it was a huge popular for storing or sharing their data.

Are Your Deleted Files Really Deleted?

Many of the users believe their files are deleted if they deleted them. But is it true?

When I learned how to use a computer by my cousin, I asked my father to buy a computer for us. My dad bought us a computer when I was studying BSc final. I started writing notes for my education. I felt the thrill to create and delete tons of files. Every time, I felt the deleted file was rally deleted permanently. But was it true?

No. After using my computer for years, I learned that deleted files didn't mean removed really! They were in a hidden space on the hard disk. Others who knew how to get them can quickly copy my files using software that restores removed data. What if I had security files (which may be a bank or other confidential document)?

So it is important to know how to delete the files permanently. I will write in next post about how to protect your data from thieves by removing permanently.
